Chenies & Latimer U17's won the county T20 cup final in a thrilling match against Gerrads Cross. On a fine evening Chenies & Latimer won the toss and elected to bat. Things could not have got off to a worse start as Gerrads Cross claimed the wicket of the opening bat with the very first ball. Batting proved very difficult as Chenies & Latimer struggled to just 32 off the first 10 over’s with wickets falling at regular intervals. Finally Chenies and Latimer got some momentum into the innings and with 26 off the last over posted a score of 109 for 7 wickets.
With a modest total to defend it needed the opening bowlers to be right on the spot to keep the run rate down and the opening pair did not disappoint. At the half way stage Gerrads Cross had made 40. Gerrads Cross wickets also fell regularly through the innings as batting became increasingly difficult in the fading light. A very tense last 3 over’s with some fine bowling and fielding kept the runs to singles and two's with Chenies and Latimer winning by just 3 runs.
Many congratulations to the U17's for a great result and finishing runners up in the league as well.
