The AGM took place on Tuesday 23rd January. This is a summary of the highlights from the meeting.

The main business of the evening was to discuss the situation that the club has found itself in with regard to the number of senior players the club has and the ability to raise 3 teams on Saturdays throughout the season. Over the past couple of years approximately 10 players of 1st XI standard have left the club. Of the team that won promotion to division 2 in 2015, only 1 remains at the club. Therefore we are no longer in a position where we can sustain a 1st XI at level 3 in the TVL.
The committee brought a proposal to the AGM that we withdraw our 1st XI from the league. This proposal was agreed by the meeting and therefore we will only enter 2 sides in the TVL for the 2018 season. These teams will play in divisions 7 and 9. We see this move as merely temporary and the starting point of a re-building program. We have a strong colts section that should be seen as the future of the club and nurturing the colts into senior cricket, combined with a player recruitment campaign will be our focus as we seek to re-build. An immediate aim is to achieve promotion for both sides in 2018.
The 2018 captains were voted in as follows:
1st XI (previously the 2nd XI)
Captain – Roger Vessey
Vice Captain – Ateeq Mohammed

2nd XI (previously the 3rd XI)
Captain – John Moffit
Vice Captain – Mark Rogers

Sunday XI
Captain – Mike Pickard

In 2017 raising sides on a Sunday proved to be a bit of a struggle. With only 2 sides on a Saturday and having replaced Sunday league cricket for friendlies, we aim to provide a balance of cricket opportunities across both days to suit all members’ abilities and cricketing ambitions.

Already mentioned has been our strong colts section. At the AGM John Campbell gave some of the highlights:
Our U7 side entered a number of tournaments and performed very successfully, winning the Marlow Big Bash and a tri-tournament at Beaconsfield. They even came runners up at an U8 tournament at Wooburn Narkovians.
U12 – finished joint top of their league
U13 – won promotion in their league
U11 Girls – won the Bucks Lady Taverners tournament
U13 Girls – won promotion in their league and came runners up in the Lady Taverners tournament

The success of the girls’ teams has been particularly rewarding for the club and also drove Roger Webster (the county girls cricket supremo) to declare Chenies and Latimer as the “best girls club in Bucks”.

Senior Awards:

1st XI Player of the season – Andrew Chapman
1st XI Performance of the season – Harry Dahiya (140* to win a chase of 285 at Amersham)
2nd XI Player of the season – Ateeq Mohammed
2nd XI Performance of the season – Charlie Anderson (maiden century)
3rd XI Performance of the season – Tom Horsburgh (7 for on debut for the club)
Most Improved Player – Waqas Kiani
Alan Rance trophy for best performance by a colt in senior cricket – Mattie Brown
Early Promise Award – Alex Walker

Election of Officers:

With one exception all members of the committee indicated their willingness to re-stand for election and were duly voted in. The exception was Viv Bartlett who, after several years as Treasurer has decided to step down. The club would like to express its gratitude to Viv for the fantastic job he has done throughout his tenure. The club is in a terrific state financially and this is in no small part due to Viv’s management of the purse strings.

John Moffit offered his services to the position of Treasurer and was unanimously elected to the post.

The 2018 committee is therefore:

President – Peter Brocklehurst
Chairman – John Whitworth
Secretary – Pat Semon
Treasurer – John Moffit
Fixture Secretary – Sue Eltringham
Chairman of the Cricket Committee – Brian Shipley
Chairman of the Ground Committee – Chris Wenman
Colts Manager – John Campbell
Membership Manager – Dave Brown
Lay Member – Michael Lurie

This still leaves the positions of Bar Manager, Social Secretary, Publicity / Web manager and Pavilion manager vacant. Please speak to any committee member if you can offer your services to any of these positions.
