U10's v Bledlow

What a great performance with the entire team making a positive contribution but unfortunately coming up short by just 4 runs against a strong Bledlow team, especially in the bowling department.
Having elected to bat, Bledlow were soon in trouble with Samson and Emily taking 3 wickets and things went from bad to worse when Jack and Wilf took a further 4 wickets leaving Bledlow on 184 for 7. However the opposition then settled down against the bowling of Caitlin, Archie, Daisy, Amelia and Harry and only lost 2 wickets whilst adding 24 runs. It was evident Bledlow had held back some of their better batters and by the close had taken the score to 234 for 9.
Jack, Archie, Samson and Stuart got Chenies of to a solid start adding 18 runs for the loss of just I wicket. Then the middle order comprising Daisy, Caitlin, Amelia and Emily added a further 24 runs for the loss of 3 wickets and with the last pair at the wicket we needed 15 runs for victory. Remarkably and against there best bowlers we managed to score 17 runs but the loss of a further wicket meant we were 4 runs short at the close.
A great performance by every player with captain for the night Stuart giving a great wicket keeping display, Jack, Samson, Archie and Wilf showing great skill with bat and ball, Harry making some outstanding stops in the field and the "Ladies Section" Daisy, Caitlin, Amelia and Emily giving the opposition a great deal to think about especially when Emily clipped there best bowler for 4 .
All in all a great display played in the true spirit of cricket and with a bit of luck could have achieved a much deserved win.
