Chenies U13 Girls pick up Silver in County Tournament!
Chenies Girls declared best Girls Team in County after U11 Gold and U13 Silver in Lady Taverners Tournament!
With determination our team of just 6 Girls set out for Cublington CC to take part in the prestigious U13 County Lady Taverners Tournament. Representing Chenies we had Gurleen and Lina (U13), Amelia and Connie (U12), Sophia D (U11) and Louisa (U9).
First match was against Cublington who we had met and beaten in the final of the U11 Tournament. Captain Amelia won the toss and elected to field first. Undeterred by being 2 fielders short the Girls worked tirelessly with 3 superb Team Run Outs and a tremendous catch by Gurleen off Connie's bowling! Amelia also picked up a wicket with a clean bowled. So Cublington ended up with 57 for 5 in their 10 Overs.
Amelia and Gurleen opened our Batting and both had to retire having reached 20 runs apiece. Connie and Lina took over the batting and had no problem knocking off the last few runs winning the match with 4 Overs to spare!
The other match was between Dinton and Ballinger with Ballinger winning so we faced them in the final.
Unfortunately things did get off to the best start when Amelia was Bowled first Ball and Gurleen was Run Out in the same Over! However Sophia and Louisa put on a good partnership of 21 before Louisa was bowled. Connie and Lina both fell to the sharp Ballinger Bowlers leaving Sophia as 'last man standing'! A final total of just 33 was not going to be enough to defend and victory went to Ballinger.
However it was a tremendous team performance with every player committed and determined and as ever supporting each other throughout!
As medals were presented Roger announced that due to our First and Second placements in the two tournaments Chenies could consider themselves the best Girls Teams in the County!
So proud of them all, well done!
