On Saturday, the 1st XI welcomed Taplow to the CCG. After losing the toss (again!!) Chenies were put in to bat. Alex Gordon-Martin got Chenies off to a strong start, applying early pressure on the Taplow bowlers. He received solid support from Yatin Sampat (31) and Roshan Dias (28) and went on to score an impressive 115. From a great position at 159-3 with 16 overs remaining, Chenies were unable to capitalise and subsided to 228 all out. In the field, Chenies began well, taking early wickets and restricting Taplow to 107-6 off 25 overs. Roshan Dias (3 wickets) and Alex Walker (2 wickets) were the standout bowlers. However, despite their efforts, Chenies were unable to defend their total, as Taplow successfully chased it down in the 40th over, finishing with 8 wickets down.
The 2’s visited Marlow on Saturday with another different side due to injuries and holidays. Needing a win , Chenies lost the toss and were inserted on what looked like a slightly green wicket but managed to get to 96 -2 after 20 overs with a lively innings of 29 from Rahul Gahlot while Stuart Silk and Mike Pickard pushed the innings along . Mike went on to make 80 before being run out and the innings never quite got the momentum to reach the magical 200 mark . After 40 overs we were 193 for 5 and disappointingly, 20-25 runs short of what we felt would be a good score. After tea we bowled well and took 2 quick wickets and generally controlled the game and continued to take wickets while limiting the runs. All went well having Marlow 1345 for 8 with 8 overs to go and then we lost all direction and failed to close out the game with Marlow winning with 2 balls to go in the last over. Naveen Nalluri returned the best bowling figures of 3-28 off 6 overs. Extremely disappointing and certainly we lost the game when we should have easily won.
In a match where Amersham 4th XI won the toss and opted to field, C&L 3rd XI faced a challenging day on the pitch. Chenies struggled to build momentum, losing wickets at regular intervals. The most critical moment came when a disastrous mix-up between the wickets led to the run out of top scorer, Ankush, who had been anchoring the innings. Jon then stepped up, managing to rally the lower order and push the total to a somewhat respectable 177, though it was clear they had fallen short of a truly competitive score. When it was their turn to bowl, Chenies needed early wickets to put pressure on Amersham, but they failed to make an impact during the first 15 overs, going wicketless. This allowed Amersham to build early momentum, which they carried through despite losing a few wickets in the middle overs. In the end, Amersham chased down the target comfortably, securing a victory that added another layer of disappointment to the 3rd XI's season—a season marked by near misses and reflections on what could have been.
On a sunny Sunday at Chenies the ladies team played Oxford 2nd XI. The visitors batted first. Emma and Ruby opened the bowling with Emma gaining a maiden over in her first and wicket maiden in her second over and Ruby took two wickets in her opening over. At the end of the third over Oxford were struggling on 2-3. Another wicket was soon to follow when Emily deftly caught an edge behind the stumps off Emma’s bowling. The bowling attack continued with Nico gaining the fifth wicket from a good catch by Sophie, as well as bowling a maiden over for the team. Aemelia also contributed by taking a wicket, whilst Gill caught a batter lbw. Gill took a second wicket with Sophie catching again in the 23rd over at which point Oxford were 44/8. The final two wickets were wrapped up by Aemelia and Emma meaning after 31 overs Oxford set a target of 57 to win. Aarushe and Samiha opened the batting for Chenies. In 10 overs Aarushe hit 6 fours to end on 34 and Samiha scored 11 to leave Chenies 57/0 with 25 overs to spare. An emphatic win was secured and everyone got home in time to watch both Hundred finals!
Next week the 1st XI travel to Princes Risborough, the 2nd XI host Beaconsfield 4s and the 3rd XI host Old Merchant Taylors 4s. The Women have a week off this week and at Chenies on Sunday is the 6-a-side competition.
Colts:
With the majority of fixtures now completed and the holiday season in full swing, attendances on Sunday mornings have, as expected, significantly fallen to such a level that most age groups are struggling to get sufficient numbers to run a meaningful coaching session and it may be appropriate to cancel future sessions. Furthermore, with so few attending it is no longer viable to run the tea, coffee and cakes stall and this will cease with immediate effect. Whilst some teams/age groups will continue with the Sunday morning sessions, please check with your coaches to avoid any confusion.
Colts Day this year will take place on Sunday 15th September and it is hoped most of you will be in attendance to celebrate yet another a great season of Colts cricket at Chenies & Latimer. Arrangements for the day are still to be finalised but below FYI, is the outline timetable and proposed format for the day.
1000hrs – The day will start with a series of windball and/or Incrediball games for U6 to U9 mixed age groups. The make up of the teams and format of play will be determined by the number of players taking part but with up to 4 pitches available, it is hoped that each team should get to play 2 games and if time permits, will include a game against the parents.
1300hrs – Presentation of End of Season Awards. It is hoped that this start time should enable those Colts who will be involved in football/rugby etc in the morning to attend awards. In addition to the individual awards for each team, participation medals will also be presented to all of the U6 to U13 Colts.
1430hrs – So that we can involve as many players as possible, there will be a 6/8 a-side Incrediball Tournament for U10 to U15 age groups with teams comprising boys and girls of mixed age and ability. The format and make up of the teams will be determined by the numbers taking part but we expect to have 2/3 pitches available .
We anticipate the games will conclude around 1630hrs.
With regard to refreshments, in addition to the usual array of tea/coffee and cakes, the bar will be open and there will also be a BBQ as well as a selection of vegetarian options.
Finally, to ensure the day runs smoothly both from a playing and catering position, we need to know in advance the approximate numbers who will be attending also indicating if you want to take part in the matches and can you to please get back to John Campbell or your team managers no later than 7th September with numbers, also indicating if you want to take part in the matches.
I trust the foregoing clarifies arrangements for Colts Day and look forward to welcoming you all on Sunday 15th to celebrate yet another fantastic season of Colts cricket at our wonderful Club.
Good luck to the U13 Girls who set off on Monday for their tour of the Isle of Wight.

For a few years our bar has been in decline. In order to drive greater use of the bar and to revive the social scene at the club we have partnered with a local company called Beer Nuts (previously proprietors of the craft beer establishment in Little Chalfont). They will be supplying beer to the club and sorting out our beer delivery system to ensure that we can avail ourselves of some quality beer. There will also be events and longer opening hours, especially on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Chenies 6-aside cricket tournament is confirmed for Sunday 25th August. Its an intra-club tournament and has been a great success over the past 2 years. We are hoping for a BBQ and some live music to go with the cricket. Please can you respond to Pitchero and/or let Alex Walker know if you can make it. Would be great to have as many players as possible

These are great fun – you just pick a team of 6 from the club’s players and see how their points rack up for your team based upon performances. Entry is just £5. Go to http://chenies-latimer.fantasyclubcricket.co.uk/. The prices of players are based SOLELY off of last year’s performance in league games , irrespective of which team you are in. This means there are some bargains. Player prices will change each week based on form and anyone not in the database yet will be added automatically once they play a league game.
