Apologies for the lack of a bulletin over the last few weeks - I just have not had the time!!
But following the weekend's final round of league games there is exciting news to share:
Firstly, congratulations to the Women's 1st XI who have won the league. Truth is, they won it with 2 games to go, but the win on Sunday put the gloss on an emphatic season, winning the league title by 84 points. Congratulations to skipper Emily Brown and the whole squad on this fantastic achievement.
Congratulations also to captain Alex Walker and the 1st XI squad for achieving a promotion spot. The league was a tightly contested competition this year with many ups and downs throughout the season, but a brilliant win in the penultimate game meant a win in the final game would guarantee promotion. And that is what they did. Things did not start well as Chenies were quickly reduced to 19-3, but Niketh Shetty scored his maiden 50 for the club and Mattie Brown his maiden ton, to post 232-7. The bowlers then took over and skittled the opposition out for 114 to signal the start of the party.
The 2nd XI began August with the spectre of relegation hanging over them. But 2 wins in the last 4 games saw them bravely climb out of the relegation zone, finishing 7th in the league and creating some momentum for a push towards promotion in 2026.
The 3rd XI finished the season strongly with back to back wins over the final 2 weeks of the season. Firstly they demolished Slough 7s by 10 wickets with Ravi Sainani scoring a century, and then defended a score of just 146, bowling Amersham 4s out for 124.
