club news summary ...

Welcome to a new feature which will hopefully become a regular summary of matches and news from the club on a weekly basis.
Not many matches to report on this week as we wait for colts games to begin, but the senior section played their first friendly of the season on Saturday at home versus Pinner 2nd XI. It was the windiest, coldest day that I have ever taken to a cricket field and the conditions required many layers of clothing. Snoods and wooly hats were adorned by some fielders! However, despite the conditions a good game of cricket was played; Chenies batted first and amassed 184-9 from 40 overs with Mike Pickard top scoring with 48, Brian Shipley getting 33 and Mark Rogers adding a late flurry to score 23 not out. The bowlers shared the wickets out, bowling Pinner out for 144 inside 32 overs to secure the first Chenies win of the season.
Next week a mixed XI travel to Mill Hill Village for a friendly on Saturday.
Colts fixtures for the next week:
Wed 1 May – U9 Lions v Beaconsfield (H)
Thur 2 May – U13 v Hawridge & Cholesbury (H)
Fri 3 May – U11 v Gerrards Cross (H)
Sun 5 May – U9 Tigers v Farnham Common (H)
Sun 5 May – U11 v Burnham (A)
The colts season launched on Sunday – despite the chilly conditions in excess of 100 children turned up to be put through their paces by our coaches. It was a fantastic start to the season and all the coaches are looking forward to developing the cricketing skills of all the children throughout the next few months.
