GX scrape over the line after monumental Chenies fightback.

The 1st Xi picked up 13 points in their first league game of the season after narrowly missing out on all 25 points with Gerrards Cross reaching the target of 193 with 1 wicket to spare.

After a good start to the innings thanks to an opening stand of 55 from Callum (46) and Vid we struggled to 115-6 at drinks. With cameos from Richard Parker (21) and an exciting 40 from Riauiri Bowen we managed to set a target of 193 all out from 48.1 overs.

In reply Gerrards Cross got off to a good start despite some excellent bowling and lots of near misses from Riauiri and Rich. On came Callum McIlveen and opened his English summer with his first league wicket for the club dismissing the GX opener bowled for 64.

Gerrards Cross continued to progress towards their total and looked comfortable winners at 171-4 however we weren't beaten yet. A good catch behind the stumps from Chappy and a run out from the boundary by Riauiri shook GX however still only needing 12 to win at 182 -6. GX put another 9 runs on the board and the game looked done at 191-6 but 2 wickets in and over from Chris May (5-45) and another in the following over from McIlveen left the visitors 191-9 requiring 3 runs to win, after a tense couple of overs the away side scraped through to victory despite the best efforts of the Chenies side.

Lots of positives to take into next week Away at Kew.
