Dear Cheniesians,

We are on quite a roll aren’t we! Third Sunday game of the year, third win. I used to pray for times like this.

The team has really started to gel into a rounded and fun squad to be a part of now, with everyone pulling together for their mate and putting their body on the line in the field. As we’ll see today, it makes one hell of a difference…

West Wycombe have beaten us for the last few years, but this time the mighty Sunday XI showed taught them a cricketing lesson (or 3):

Lesson 1: Bowling


At one point I kid you not we had them 6(3). Yes that is 6 bloody runs for 3 bloody wickets. We pinned them down like prime Paddy Pimblett, and ran through their top order like a Chicken Phaal from India Rasoi!!

Rohin’s opening spell, in tandem with Kaneel was something of distinct beauty. Both of them going from strength to strength throughout their first spell, feeding off eachother and building up pressure until the breaking point.

Mr Modasia (who has the best run-up marker/bowling motivation tool I have ever seen) ended the day going at 2.63 per over, with a wicket and a maiden too.

Mr Mathurata was slightly more costly runs wise (still going at 3.75s mind you). He finished his top quality day’s work having taken 4 very fine wickets indeed, alongside 3 maidens.

Himanshu and Bhavesh also chipped in with a couple of wickets, talking WWCC to a deeply under par 198. That’s bloody 60 runs short chaps!!

That concluded the first lesson…

Lesson 2: Hosting

If there’s one thing we in Chenies know what to do well historically (catching?) it’s putting out a proper spread at tea.

My close personal friends over at Waitrose really put on a show. Sandos, Vicky sponge, battenbergs, chocolate fingers, cheese bloody twists - the works.

Tea ladies are seemingly extinct, so I have become Tea man!! Please do not expect me to bake anything, or make cups of tea. Delegation job all that.

Anyway, with a stomach full of grub, lesson 2 concludes.

Lesson 3: Batting

The skipper got some runs he looked class it was a chanceless innings he’s the man ok fine that’s enough I won’t mention it again. If you haven’t captained me on fantasy already what are you doing? OK FINE I won’t mention it again.

Anyway, Milan got a chance to use his brand new Choice Willow this week after doing more damage to sticks of wood than a lumberjack. You just know a bat hates to see Milan coming.

Unlike second slip, however, who certainly did not mind seeing the ball shnick off Migs’ new bat right into his hands.

Pete did his standard chewing against the new ball, and ended up with a really good looking 10 before punching it to the keeper.

Then came the destructive, game winning beautiful partnership of Bhavesh Patel and **** ********. The pair ended with 151* unbeaten runs between them to win the game. Bhavesh’s innings was genuinely chanceless, smashing 9 boundaries to get up to 55 runs not out.

We even took the piss out of our visitors a little bit, as Bhavesh blocked out to try and get ** his 100. Unfortunately * did not have the bollocks to do it, and avoided the jug (theoretically).

Thus concludes the final lesson learned by WWCC on Sunday. They didn’t challenge us to a boat race either because they knew they’d lose.

Another beautiful win from the boys in blue & gold. What an enjoyable performance from a top top team. An honourable mention must go to Shan, who faced a proper TFC on Sunday. Sorry champ, thanks for coming though seriously!
