After warming up well in the sticky wicket the night before, the Sunday XI, full of delicious Finnish nectar, were ready to go on a crusade to defend our unbeaten run.

Chenies’ very own Jimmy and Stuart (Rohin and Kaneel) opened up the bowling in fine fashion making light work of the top order batsmen. Hari and Bhavesh also produced some tight and tidy bowling.

Their middle order proved more challenging, going on to score boundaries plentiful. The attacking style however presented an opportunity for what will be one of the catches of the season- A Modasia left handed screamer down at long off. If u missed out on the spectacle don’t worry it was all caught on cctv! He will certainly be watching that replay back many many times.

It was a good innings for the youth of Chenies too - Lohan and Rishaan Patel bowled beautifully troubling the set batters frequently and there some great sub fielding from our no.12 Yash.

Scores in at 250 we had some chasing to do…

Chase however we did not. It was a tale of Noah’s ark:

2 chop ons, 2 lbws, 2 dropped catches by the skipper (who wrote that in there ;)), 2 wickets after a 4, 2 people with borrowed bats

Alas there were 2 stand out performances! Alex Walker, the only one to tuck in, pumped their bowlers left, right and centre powered on to 79 in a one man attempt to produce a win and also a carefree, cavaliering knock on debut from Rishaan, son of Vikram, notching up runs of his own!

A disappointing result but that’s cricket eh.
