The policy that will be followed by the selection committee is as follows:

2. Selection will aim to give as many people a game over a given weekend as possible
3. Thames Valley League teams will be selected with the aim of fielding 3 balanced sides whilst aiming to send out the strongest possible 1st XI, then the strongest possible 2nd XI and then the strongest possible 3rd XI
4. The decision of the selection committee will take into account the following parameters:
a. The balance of the teams in terms of number of batters / bowlers / wicket keeper etc
b. The desire to promote players in recognition of their performances in the lower team(s)
c. The need to develop younger players within a balanced age profile of the teams
d. Consideration of the opposition and the playing conditions
e. The stated season objectives of the teams
5. Any player who has not paid their subscription by the stated deadline for the season will not be considered for selection until the subscription has been paid.
6. Exceptional circumstances
a. Any request by a player to play at a particular location for personal reasons will be accommodated as best as possible – but this cannot be guaranteed
b. players will only be moved up or down one team at a time, consequently a player playing in the first team ‘this’ week will be selected for the first or second team ‘next’ week and players playing 3’s cricket this week not asked to play first team cricket the following week.
c. If team objectives and priorities change during the season then this will be communicated to all players.
7. Any player who is to be dropped for the upcoming fixtures, either down to a lower team or entirely, will be contacted by a nominated member of the selection committee (preferably the captain doing the ‘dropping’) to explain.
8. Where possible, non TVL cricket (Sunday league or friendlies) will be used to provide a game to players who want a game, but who are not selected for the TVL teams. However, consideration will also be given to the playing strength required for the fixture, so there may be some games where this is not possible every weekend.
